Advanced Features

The Garrett Vortex VX9 is powerful, versatile, wireless-ready, and able to tackle all terrains. It has a wide array of features and technical specifications that help the user find less trash and more treasure.

• Frequency Choices: Choose to detect in a powerful single frequency (choice of 5 kHz, 9 kHz, 13 kHz, 18 kHz, or 25 kHz), or in one of Vortex’s simultaneous multi-frequency options (Multi or Multi-Salt).
• Hi-Resolution Ground Balance: Features 175 points of ground balance resolution for terrains ranging from ferrous ground to saltwater beaches.
• 5-Tone Audible Target ID: Provides five distinct audio tones for greater target identification.
• Hi-Resolution Discrimination: Remove certain ranges of metallic targets from audible detection. Includes full range of iron (ferrous) target discrimination and the ability to “notch out” (remove from audible detection) other ranges of non-ferrous targets.
• Rechargeable battery: The built-in lithium-ion battery provides approximately 15 hours of use, enough to get you through a full day of searching on one charge.
• Iron Audio: Allows user to hear discriminated iron and avoid digging undesired flat iron targets such as bottle caps.
• Iron Boundary: Allows user to discriminate out undesired chunky iron objects while in Multi-Frequency operation.
• Bottlecap Reject control: Allows user to discriminate out bottlecaps and similar undesired, flat, tricky iron objects while in Multi-Frequency operation.
• Iron Volume control: Allows user to decrease the volume of undesired iron targets while maintaining the volume for non-ferrous targets. This enhances the focus on more desired targets.

Technical Specifications:

• Searchcoil: The Vortex VX-9 comes with an 8.5” x 11” DD Raider™ searchcoil, designed for maximum depth and sensitivity. A searchcoil cover is included to protect your coil.
• Detection Modes: Includes seven detection modes, plus Pinpoint: Zero Discrimination, Standard Mode (ideal for most coin, jewelry, and relic hunters), USA Coins Mode (includes discrimination pattern ideal for U.S. coins), Thin Coins (for hammered silver coins, small gold coins), Fast Mode (for competition hunts and trashy search areas), Beach Mode, and Custom Mode.
• MD-MF Target ID scale: On the VX9, three Target ID scales help identify a target: a lower common ferrous target scale, a central non-ferrous scale, and an upper ferrous scale that helps identify flat or tricky iron targets.
• Reaction Speed control: User can increase the detector’s reaction speed, allowing better ability to separate adjacent metallic targets. This can help you uncover treasure targets that might normally be hidden by adjacent trash.
